Dr. Wijnand den Dekker describes the steps of the operation with enVast and the results achieved:
– Last week, Jeroen Tahon and I performed the first non-study procedure with the enVast stent retriever in the Netherlands. It was an anterior STEMI with thrombotic occlusion of the LAD. We performed an aspiration thrombectomy with a good yield but without restoration of antegrade flow. IVUS showed a high thrombus burden, so we decided to perform thrombectomy with the enVast stent retriever. After two attempts, antegrade flow was present, but there was still a lot of thrombus. After two more attempts, no thrombus was visible on IVUS. There were plaques and plaque rupture, but the minimum lumen area (MLA) was greater than 10 mm². We used a 4 mm drug-coated balloon and did not place a stent. Final result TIMI III. –
